Office
SIG
Several
members requested a return of an Office SIG in
2008and Judi McDowell offered to get it rolling
again with meetings focusing on Microsoft's
Office software. They meet on the 1st Monday of
the month.
Topics
include sessions in various applications, such
as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint,
Publisher, Outlook and Access. No one person can
be an expert in all these areas, so several
members volunteer to show the features they
use and are most experienced with.
Participants
help choose monthly subjects for discussion.
During previous meetings, Office SIG volunteers
and guest speakers have given "how-to"
demonstrations on a "mail merge", Excel
spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, printed
projects using Publisher, the use of Outlook
mail, and data bases in Access. Participant
questions on any application are welcome every
session.
Please
mark your calendars for the first Monday of the
month for Office SIG. Classes will give you a
chance to learn how to use the many applications
of Microsoft Office and how to integrate them
with each other.
SOMETHING NEW
TRIED!!
The March
meeting of Office SIG was remotely
"shared" with other QCS members
at home using Microsoft's SharedView and
Skype for the audio.
During the
session, Vicki Wassenhove demonstrated
Vista's Speech Recognition program and
Judi demonstrated tips for using WORD and
EXCEL.
The system
seemed to work well so Judi hopes to make
all her SIGs available remotely to those
who can't attend in person. Contact Judi
to join the sessions via a "Shared
View" connection. Both that program
and Skype are small FREE downloads.
