WEB PAGE DESIGN 101 MINI-SIG

Web Page Design 101 SIG

Vicki Wassenhove wazz123@gmail.com leads occasional mini-SIGs to assist those wanting to design their first websites.

The last session was held on the first three Thursdays in May 2009. The SIG met at 7 PM in the library of the Tri-City Jewish Center and the class was also available for remote connection from QCS members' homes.

This group learns basic web design using only free page and photo editors. Their first web pages are posted on a free website host. After the SIG participants determine their interest level , they may want to choose other more advanced software or post their pages to other sites.

It is also possible to build an extensive site using only the free programs used in this SIG. This QCS website was created almost exclusively with free software downloaded from the web.

Basically self-taught as a webmaster, Vicki
learned much about designing websites by trial and error and by using elementary refer
ence books. She is the author and webmaster of several large sites including this one for the Q-C Computer Society.

There has been some discussion about holding another "101" session in the fall of 2009 or possibly beginning a Webmaster SIG that meets monthly. Let us know if you are interested in either. Email theqcs@mchsi.com or Vicki.
